How much better is FSRS? ›

FSRS is somewhat more difficult to understand than Anki SM-2, and is not as customizable, but in return it schedules cards substantially more accurately. In general, you can expect to do 20–30% fewer reviews to achieve the same level of knowledge retention when using FSRS. FSRS is an alpha feature.

You can find the optimal parameters for your cards by using the "Optimize" button under the "FSRS parameters" field. The optimal parameters will replace the default parameters automatically. In Anki 24.06+, there is no minimum number of reviews required for optimization.

Our suggested 10 new cards per day is a good starting point, but if it's too much then you could decrease it to 5 flashcards per day. But if you find that you can stay on top of all your Anki reviews a day, then you can increase it to 20 new cards a day.

It's easy to make 100+ Anki cards in a day. The problems with making lots of Anki cards is: They're usually not very good. Your day will be filled with Anki and nothing else (like QBanks)

The algorithm is designed to figure when you will have to review a card in order to expect 90% retention. After it does that, it sets the next due date before or after that based on your desired retention. You can adjust your desired retention whenever you want, and FSRS will handle it just fine.

FSRS is a component of eSRS. These systems are independent of each other; although they are similar in function and appearance and provide the capability to access each other from within either system. Contractors that submit reports in eSRS are still required to report in FSRS.

If you just hit 1000 reviews, maybe you'd feel better keeping FSRS off for now. Save these parameters somewhere. And optimize it again when you hit 2000 reviews, so you can see how they compare. No one will force you to use FSRS between now and then.

While FEM requires specific information, Machine Learning is based on big amounts of data.

Even for complete concepts no one should spend more than 20 seconds per cards and that's already a lot. On average I'd say a good pace is around 300-400 an hour. I average around 8 seconds per card on review.

For most people, anywhere between 5 minutes and 30 minutes is a good amount of time for reviewing vocabulary.

By default, Anki will show you a maximum of 20 new cards each day. The reason for this limit is because those cards will need to be reviewed in the coming days - such as the next day, and then a few days after, and so on.

This depends on the person, goals and material, but I don't think you should spend 2 hours a day on Anki for language learning. 10-15 minutes a days sounds pretty reasonable to me, more can be overwhelming and contribute to perceiving it as a chore.

For language learning, it's better to have just one at first. Stick with it for a month, then reassess. The various beginner decks are going to go over the same material, so there's no point in doing multiple.
