    The peg tube is used for those patients who are unable to swallow adequate oral nutrition and are high risk for aspiration pneumonia. This procedure enables the physician to create a small opening through the skin of the abdominal wall and into the stomach. This procedure allows the patient to obtain adequate nutrition, fluids and medication directly to the stomach.

    Echocardiography is a type of ultrasound that uses sound waves to create a moving picture of your heart. An instrument called a transducer that transmits high-frequency sound waves is placed against different areas of your chest and abdomen. The transducer will pick up the echoes of sound waves as they bounce off different areas inside the heart. These echos are turned into real time moving images of your heart that can be viewed on a video screen.

    CT, or Computed Tomography, combines the use of X-rays with computer technology to obtain images from different angles around the body. The images are then processed to show a cross-section of body tissues and organs. CT is used to assist in diagnosis and treatment of a variety of health problems, and is especially helpful because it can show several tissues such as lung, bone, muscle, and blood vessels with much more clarity than a traditional x-ray.
