Our favorite restaurants are still Fratelli's Italian on Snow Hill Road (homemade pasta and sauces, delicious dinners with portions always big enough to bring home half, consistently voted best crabcakes in town, fantastic desserts by Rita, nice atmosphere) and Cactus Taverna with upscale Mexican/Spanish/Middle Eastern dishes (my favorites are Shrimp Cancun and the sizzling fajitas after complimentary nacho chips with homemade salsa and guac.) Agave Azul is good Mexican in a casual decorated place with tableside guacamole. There is so much for families to do here if you love the outdoors! Our kids always loved our "best small zoo in America " adjacent to Ben's Red Swings playground and the City Park with trails and tennis courts. We spent a lot of time with our kids at Pemberton Park, having picnics along the water, hiking, historic festivals. For a longer drive, Blackwater Wildlife Refuge 40 minutes to the West always has amazing wildlife including bald eagles, osprey, bluebirds. Just 40 minutes to the East is our favorite, Assateague Island with wild ponies and gorgeous beaches. Plenty of great restaurants, and after birding at the beach, we love the casual outdoor dining (delicious food) amidst potted palms at the Sunset Grill (10 minutes from Assateague). For kids- Ocean City has so much to do! Trimpers' Rides and Jolly Roger Water Park in season, ice skating indoors at the Carousel in N. OC year round, Go-carts, mini golf; the beaches are gorgeous especially this time of year, and we often see dolphins and pelicans diving in.
